Ware

We spent today with friends of ours at a small town called Ware. We visited the tiny museum there. Below is Adrien at the museum in a WWII bunker with gas mask.







We had a picnic in the beautiful gardens and fed the ducks in the nearby river. In between the sunny spells were torrential rain showers which soaked us through, but that was all part of the fun.

Those gardens look amazing!! The owl is just perfect! There is a lot of duck feeding going on around here too :)

That first photo made me think of a BBC documentary about WWII I saw a while ago, and of the hardship the UK went through at that time. How did you explain those facts to your kids? Glad there was not only rain!

I explained about the rationing of food and of the children of their age being evacuated to other parts of the country. I try to keep it in child size chunks.
