hot, busy days

I never intended to be away for so long, but sometimes life just gets in the way. With just a couple of weeks now until school's out, there are the many end of term activities to juggle between two schools. We have also been having somewhat of a heatwave here, and I don't do heat well, it melts my brain and all I feel like doing is lying down sipping ice water.

Had a wonderful day at Adrien's sports day. A picnic lunch to start on the school field, then time for races. My little guy getting to win the 'beanbag on head race'. I am quite upset though that the schools seem to be taking a non-competitive line on sports days now, so there are no winners apparently. How sad for children who do not excel academically and wait for their day to shine on the playing field, for that now to be taken away from them.

How many fun activities! The heat wave seems to have forgotten our part of the world, its cold here! But I agree with you, I don't do well in the heat either.

This afternoon it's Sport's Day at my chidren's school. They are divided in four teams and, at the end, they'll count which team won and will receive the big Cup! It's not an individual prize but a collective one, and when your child win the race, he gives points to his team, I think it's good isn't it?

looks like you had a wonderful time. yeah- it´s a little strange having no winners or losers... i did growing up and we all turned out ok... i think it´s a great learning experience because there is a lot of competition in the real world and it´s better to learn to deal when in a fun atmosphere... ok i´m rambling- happy day!
